LCT3/Lincoln Center Theater has announced that it will open its 2017–2018 season with Zoe Kazan’s After the Blast, a new drama that takes place in the wake of a major environmental disaster. Lila Neugebauer (The Antipodes, The Wolves) will direct the fall production.
Performances of After the Blast will begin October 7 ahead of an October 23 opening in the Claire Tow Theatre. The limited Off-Broadway engagement will play through November 19.
After the Blast sees a world where the human population has retreated underground. “Experience is simulated. Fertility is regulated,” read production notes. “And Anna and Oliver have one last chance to have a baby.”
Casting will be announced at a later date.
The production will have sets by Daniel Zimmerman, costumes by Kaye Voyce, lighting by Eric Southern, and sound by Brandon Wolcott.
Kazan’s plays include Absalom, We Live Here, and Trudy and Max in Love; as well as the screenplays for the films Ruby Sparks, Wildlife, and the mini-series The Secret History of Wonder Woman. As an actor, she has appeared on Broadway in Come Back, Little Sheba; The Seagull; and A Behanding in Spokane, along with numerous Off-Broadway productions.
