The repertoire for the tour includes Schubert's Sonata in D major, D.850, and Mussorgsky's
Pictures at an Exhibition. On January 20, on his second stop, Andsnes will give the world premiere of
Shadows of Silence by the Danish composer Bent Sêªrensen at Carnegie Hall.
"This new piece has an unusual and fascinating sound world," Andsnes said in a statement. "Soft repeated notes create a shimmering quality I've never come across before."
Subsequently, he performs in Morrow, Georgia; Kansas City; Fort Worth; Los Angeles; and Chicago.
