Evens is stepping into the role of Phillip, one of the apostles, in the Tony-nominated revival of Jesus Christ Superstar at the Neil Simon Theatre. The actor, a temporary replacement, will continue through July 1.

About his debut, Evens recently told Playbill.com, "I'm thrilled to join this great company! Everyone has been so supportive and accommodating."

Leo Ash Evens, who has recently taken part in readings of Diner and The Honeymooners, was seen Off-Broadway in Wanda's World and Yank and in the Ravinia Festival production of Gypsy (starring Patti LuPone) as Tulsa. He has toured in productions of 42nd Street, On the Record and West Side Story, and his NYMF credits include Harmony, I Prefer to Dream, But I'm a Cheerleader, Going Down Swingin and The Taxi Cabaret. Among Evens' regional credits are Oklahoma!, Cabaret, Thoroughly Modern Millie and Footloose. He also recently played Jamie in Matthew Lopez’s world-premiere play Somewhere.
