Classic Arts Features Leonidas Kavakos Plans Upcoming Concerts in Atlanta, Seattle, DC, Minnesota and New York Fresh from a February tour with the Philadelphia Orchestra and his debut as conductor and soloist with La Scala Milan, violinist Leonidas Kavakos kicked off a series of US concerts March 26 in Atlanta.


Leonidas Kavakos' last concerts in Europe gave an overview of the Greek virtuoso's qualities both as soloist and conductor. Following his La Scala debut, he gave three further concerts in Italy with Camerata Salzburg, where is artistic director.

Kavakos may be heard on a new recording on the Sony Classical label featuring Mendelssohn's violin concerto and his two piano trios with Camerata Salzburg.

In the US Leonidas Kavakos will perform with several concerts, playing with Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, National Symphony Orchestra and Minnesota Orchestra. On April 16 and 18 he will perform Mendelssohn's violin concerto with the National Symphony Orchestra in Washington.
