Previously titled Fat Camp, the musical debuted in 2009 as part of the New York Musical Theatre Festival and played a brief Off-Broadway run in 2012.

The story follows Robert's resistant journey to weight-loss camp, told with "biting humor and irreverence." According to the Vineyard's release, Gigantic "tackles the growing pains of adolescence through the experiences of a bunch of misfit teens forced to find solace in one another as they look — inside and out — for acceptance, a hot make-out session, and the last contraband Butterfinger." Gigantic will feature set design by Timothy R. Mackabee, costume design by Gregory Gale, lighting design by Jeff Croiter and sound design by John Shivers and David Patridge. Music supervision, arrangements and orchestrations are by Dominick Amendum. Musical direction is by Aaron Jodoin, and casting is by Michael Cassara, CSA.

The Vineyard's 2015-16 season will also feature new works by Pulitzer winner Paula Vogel and Tony nominee Colman Domingo, whose play Dot will be directed by multiple Tony winner Susan Stroman. The company will also stage the New York premiere of John Kander's new musical Kid Victory in the fall of 2016. Read more about the season here
