Obie winner and Tony nominee Leslie Lee (The First Breeze of Summer) directs Sophia Murashkovsky's Coyote, Take Me There! at La MaMa E.T.C. Jan. 2-17, 1999.

Coyote is a surreal look at the experiences of a Russian Jew and a Mexican smuggled into the United States by a "seeing eye dog," a creature that shifts from a man into a beautiful woman-spirit. The piece, written out of Murashkovsky's own immigration experience and the experiences of her great uncle, draws on Native American myths with characters such as Mister Rabbit, Porcupine and Coyote.

Fulvia Vergel plays Coyote. Also in the cast are Dagmara Domincyk, Nicole Gomez, Alex Johnson, Ana Marie Jomolca, Walter Krochmal, Javier Rivera, Marilyn Ruth-Moore, Aaron Samson, Rachel Shwayder, Erik Singer and David Winton.

Daniel Hubp is the production designer with James Salemi designing the lighting. Russian composer Alexander Zhubrbin wrote the original score. Jennifer Copaken choreographs.
