Fabulous showman Liberace and San Francisco drag legend Doris Fish, the celebs dished and dishing in the world premiere one-acts Let's Talk About Me, will hang around an extra week at San Francisco's Theatre Rhinoceros. Let's Talk About Me will now play through Sept. 29. Performances began Aug. 29.
Behind the Candelabra, written in American Gothic style, exposes Wladzui Valentino Liberace as the piano-playing, unlikeable mini-mafioso he was. Things were so bad for his lover and chauffeur Scott Thorson, that the end of their five year relationship resulted in a palimony settlement and a botched armed robbery. Philip P. Ford stars as Liberace.
Arturo Galster stars as Doris Fish in Simply Stunning. A victim of AIDS in 1991, Fish was a person of many talents, from drag queen to actress, model to writer. Her columns appeared in the San Francisco Sentinel, her face appeared on greeting cards and in the camp classic "Vegas in Space," and her voice graced the '70's rock group, The Tubes. Simply Stunning features musical numbers from Fish's early productions like Blonde Sing and video segments from appearances on various 1980's talk shows.
Author-performer Jennifer Blowdryer is also involved, relating the story of her punk years in City by the Bay in White Trash Debutante.
