Liberty: A Monumental New Musical, a pop-infused musical detailing the story of Lady Liberty’s arrival in the U.S.A., will end its current run at 42West on July 24, with plans to resume performances in the fall.

The family-friendly show officially opened Off-Broadway July 4, following previews that began June 6, and stars Abigail Shapiro as the title character.

The new musical, which played a 12-week run at Theatre 80 last year, features a book and lyrics by Dana Leslie Goldstein, music by Jon Goldstein and direction by Evan Pappas. Based on true events, it tells the story of a young French immigrant who arrives in New York Harbor in 1884 and struggles to gain acceptance.

The complete cast includes Mark Aldrich (Newsies, Ragtime), Brandon Andrus (Side Show); Nick Devito (Baby), Ryan Duncan (Shrek), C. Mingo Long (South Pacific, Purlie), Vincent McCoy (Magic Tree House: The Musical), Keaton Micucci, Tyrone L. Robinson (The Lion King, Book Of Mormon), Emma Rosenthal (Candide, Brigadoon) and Tina Stafford (Once, The Musical).

The creative team includes Jamie Roderick (lighting design), Deborah Hobson (costume design), Michael Cassara, CSA (casting), Cherie B. Tay (production stage manager), Form Theatricals, Anthony Francavilla and Zachary Laks (general management)

Liberty: A Monumental New Musical is produced by Theresa Wozunk, Michelle Shapiro and Tim Harper.

“We are so proud of our cast and crew for bringing Liberty to life and look forward to resuming performances this fall. As the NY Times said in its review Liberty evokes an America some are still waiting to for,“ commented producer Wozunk in a press statement.

Tickets can be purchased by calling (866) 811-4111 or visiting LibertyTheMusical.com. 42West is located at 514 West 42nd Street, Manhattan.
