Wicked's Lilli Cooper has joined the cast of The Wildness: Sky-Pony’s Rock Fairy Tale, a world premiere theatrical event by Brooklyn indie-rock band Sky-Pony, presented by Ars Nova and The Play Company. She joins co-creators Tony nominee Lauren Worsham and Kyle Jarrow.
Helmed by Tony nominee Sam Buntrock, The Wildness: Sky-Pony’s Rock Fairy Tale will begin performances Feb. 16, with an official opening night slated for Feb. 29. The Off-Broadway production is scheduled to run through March 19 at Ars Nova.
The show is a collaboration between singer/actress Worsham and her musician/writer husband Kyle Jarrow. "Sky-Pony's lush sound and cheeky style will surround and seduce you into a world of prophecies and forbidden temptations," state press notes. "Release your inner dragon on a raucous ride exploring faith, doubt and the wild space in between."
Joining Cooper and the duo, the complete cast includes David Blasher, Jeff Fernandes, Katie Lee Hill, Jamie Mohamdein, Sharone Sayegh and Kevin Wunderlich.
The Wildness: Sky-Pony’s Rock Fairy Tale is billed as a narrative-based event that blends the lines between theatre, concert and ritual. Lead singer Worsham will be supported by a keyboard, guitar, bass, cello, percussion, and three backup vocalists, including Cooper.
The show features choreography by Chase Brock, scenic design by Kris Stone, costume design by Tilly Grimes, lighting design by Brian Tovar, sound design by Tim O’Heir, projection design by Alex Basko Koch, props design by Sarah Morgan and music direction by Wiley DeWeese.
