Wolf will appear in the season nine premiere as FBI Agent Casey Stratton, a potentially recurring character with "unexpected surprises." Tomlin will play Penelope, a very sharp scientist who is also grandmother of Timothy McGee, played by Sean Murray.

"NCIS" centers around the Naval Criminal Investigative Service. According to CBS, "it's a show that focuses on the sometimes complex and always amusing dynamics of a team forced to work together in high-stress situations."

Tomlin won a special Tony Award in 1977 when she appeared in her solo show Appearing Nitely. In 1986 she won the Tony Award for Best Actress in a Play for The Search for Signs of Intelligent Life in the Universe, which was also nominated for Best Revival in 2001 when it returned to Broadway.

Wolf has been seen on Broadway in Side Man and is known for his television work, which includes "Party of Five" and "Everwood."

"NCIS" will begin its ninth season Sept. 20 and air Tuesday nights on CBS at 8 PM ET.
