The short run honors the 150th Anniversary of the New York Fire Department; Father Mychal Judge, OFM, the first certified fatality in the September 11, 2001, attacks; and the Lt. Joseph G. Leavey Foundation.
Hannah Ryan, the associate director of The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time, directs a cast that features Renee Claire Bergeron as Joan and William Mulligan as Captain Nick Flanagan.
The Guys, according to press notes, is "based on a true story about the after-effects of the collapse of the World Trade Center. The play is set less than two weeks after the events of September 11, 2001 and explores the relationship between a writer and a fire captain who has lost most of his men from the attacks."
The Guys premiered in December 2001 at the Flea Theater in New York City and originally starred Bill Murray and Sigourney Weaver.
The run marks the initial offering of Bear Back Brooke Productions, a new production company that endeavors to promote "healing through theatrical and musical performances."
