News Linda Lavin Kicks Off Fall Season at Plush Room Sept. 6 Broadway and TV favorite Linda Lavin begins a two-week engagement at San Francisco's Empire Plush Room Sept. 6.

Lavin, who will be accompanied by 42nd Street's Billy Stritch, has titled her cabaret evening The Song Remembers When, and she will perform at the intimate nightspot through Sept. 18. Cabaretgoers can expect to hear such tunes as "Rhode Island Is Famous for You," "Back on Bass," "New Girl in Town," "The Boy From. . .," "You've Got Possibilities" and "Two Lost Souls."

Linda Lavin received a Tony Award for her performance in Broadway Bound and was also nominated for her work in The Tale of the Allergist's Wife, The Diary of Anne Frank and Last of the Red Hot Lovers. She has also appeared on Broadway in Hollywood Arms, The Sisters Rosensweig, Gypsy, The Enemy Is Dead, Paul Sills' Story Theater, Cop-Out, Something Different, It's a Bird . . . It's a Plane . . . It's Superman, On a Clear Day You Can See Forever, The Riot Act and A Family Affair. Lavin is also known to TV audiences for her award-winning work on the comedy series "Alice."

Tony, Grammy, Emmy and Academy Award winner Rita Moreno will follow Lavin, playing Sept. 20-Oct. 9. Entitled Between Love and Fascination, Moreno's act will highlight her decades-long show-business career. Debby Boone, who recently made her New York City cabaret debut with Reflections of Rosemary, will bring that Rosemary Clooney tribute to the Plush Room Oct. 25-30. Hairspray's Bruce Vilanch will then offer Almost Famous Nov. 8-20. Vilanch's show, according to press notes, examines his encounters "with the glamorous, ego-driven, pansexual denizens of Tinsel Town."

The fall season at the Plush Room concludes with former Supremes star Mary Wilson. Wilson, who recently completed a tour of Duke Ellington's Sophisticated Ladies, will perform Up Close & Personal Nov. 29-Dec. 11.
