News Lindsay Mendez, Ben Platt, Patti Murin, F. Michael Haynie and More Are Band Geeks Tonight at 54 Below The musical Band Geeks comes to life in a concert presentation Jan. 18 at 54 Below. Wicked star Lindsay Mendez and The Book of Mormon's Ben Platt are among the cast.

The 7 PM and 9:30 PM shows feature Jill Abramovitz (Cinderella, It Should’ve Been You), F. Michael Haynie (Wicked, Peter Pan Live!), Mendez (Wicked, Dogfight), Ruthie Ann Miles (Here Lies Love, The King and I), Mike Millan (Piece of My Heart), Patti Murin (Lysistrata Jones, Fly by Night), Platt (The Book of Mormon, "Pitch Perfect"), Daniel Quadrino (Newsies, Peter Pan Live!), Nicholas Christopher (Motown, Rent), Gavin Lodge (Annie, Priscilla, Queen of the Desert), Jacey Powers (Falling, Our Town) and Jason Michael Snow (The Book of Mormon, Sex Tips for Straight Women from a Gay Man).

Band Geeks features music by Mark Allen, Gaby Alter and Tommy Newman, lyrics by Alter and Newman and a book by Gordon Greenberg and Newman. It has previously been seen at NAMT, Goodspeed Musicals' Norma Terris Theatre and in regional productions all over the country.

According to press notes, "With just nine members and dwindling funds, the Cuyahoga High Marching Beavers are close to extinction. When a troubled athlete is relegated to their ranks, Elliott, the tuba-playing band captain and Laura, his best friend, must find a way to unite the band, embrace their inner geek, and save the Marching Beavers."

Directed by Lorin Latarro, the concert features music direction by Jacob Yates and is produced by Shoshana Feinstein.
