News Lisa Dillon and Stephen Mangan to Star in Joe Penhall's Birthday at London's Royal Court Theatre Stephen Mangan and Lisa Dillion will play a couple in the final tense hours as they await the arrival of their new baby in the world premiere of Joe Penhall's Birthday, which begins performances June 22 prior to an official opening June 28 at London's Royal Court Jerwood Theatre Downstairs.

According to press materials, Lisa (Dillon) and Ed (Mangan) are having another baby. Determined to do things differently this time, its proving a bumpy ride. This is a whole new birth plan.

Dillon was most recently seen onstage in the RSC production of The Taming of the Shrew at Stratford-upon-Avon and subsequently on tour. Her recent London roles include the world premiere of David Eldridge's Knot of the Heart at the Almeida, in a role written for her, as well as A Flea in her Ear and Design for Living (both at the Old Vic) and Private Lives in the West End with Kim Cattrall and Matthew Macfadyen. On TV, she played Miss Mary Smith in "Cranford" for the BBC.

Mangan was last seen at the Royal Court in Michael Wynne's The People Are Friendly. Other recent stage credits include The Norman Conquests trilogy (Old Vic and Broadway's Circle in the Square). TV credits include "Dirk Gently," "The Hunt for Tony Blair," "Episodes," "Green Wing" and "I'm Alan Partridge."

Further casting is to be announced. The play is directed by Roger Michell, designed by Mark Thompson, with lighting by Hugh Vanstone and sound by John Leonard.
