An industry reading of the new musical The Collins Boy will be presented January 14 at Town Stages, 221 West Broadway in Tribeca.

The musical, written by Brad Bass (Wicked, Jersey Boys) and Cari Joy, is based on the real-life events surrounding Christine Collins, her son Walter, and the Wineville Chicken Coop Murders of Los Angeles in 1928.

Escape to Margaritaville's Lisa Howard will head the cast as the mother; joining her are Claudio Pestana Aguiar, Austin Bowen, Chase Crandell, Michelle Dowdy, Jacob Estes, Russell Fischer, Andrew Holder, Angelo McDonough, Chris McNiff, Aline O’Neill, Payton Pritchett, Shannon Rowland, Lauren Turner, and Declan Wagar.

The Collins Boy is set in 1928 Los Angeles when corruption of the LAPD is at its boiling point, and a mother’s son goes missing. The story gains national attention, and the pressure to find the boy grows palpable. Five months later, the son returns home to Christine—only, Christine is convinced immediately the boy is not her son.
