In anticipation of the premiere of the screen adaptation of Hello Again, Broadway Records will release the single “Beyond the Moon,” a number composer Michael John LaChiusa and the film’s writer Cory Krueckeberg wrote specifically for star Audra McDonald.

The song, which is set in 2002 in the movie, follows Sally (McDonald) as she transforms into a “Pop Diva.” In 2015, Hello Again’s Instagram account teased a shot of McDonald in her diva aesthetic.
LaChiusa’s 1994 musical is inspired by Arthur Schnitzler’s 1897 play La Ronde and explores ten love affairs across ten different eras of New York City history.
The film, directed by Tom Gustafson, will make its world premiere at the Inside Out Toronto LGBT Film Festival June 4. Subsequent screenings will take place at various festivals throughout the summer in locations including New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, London, Tel Aviv, Kansas City, Hartford, Maine, and South Korea; regional theatre-hosted sneak peek events are also in the works. The full soundtrack will be released later this year.
In addition to McDonald, the cast of the film adaptation features Martha Plimpton, T.R. Knight, Rumer Willis, Cheyenne Jackson, Jenna Ushkowitz, Tyler Blackburn, Sam Underwood, Nolan Gerard Funk, and Al Calderon.
