Griffith, who will make her Broadway debut this summer in Chicago, and Lithgow will announce the eagerly-awaited Tony nominations 8:30 AM May 12 at the famed Sardi's Restaurant. Stage and screen star John Lithgow won Tony Awards for his work in The Changing Room and last season's short-lived Sweet Smell of Success. He also received Tony nominations for Requiem for a Heavyweight and M. Butterfly.
An Academy Award nominee for her performance in "Working Girl," Melanie Griffith will make her Broadway bow July 11 when she joins the Broadway company of Chicago as Roxie Hart. Griffith's many other screen credits include "The Bonfire of the Vanities," "Paradise," "Born Yesterday," "Mulholland Falls," "Lolita," "Cecil B. DeMented" and "Stuart Little 2."
Broadway shows must open on or before May 7 to be eligible for 2003 Tony nominations. The 57th Annual Tony Awards ceremony will be held on Sunday, June 8 at Radio City Music Hall.
