News Little House Producers Welcome Marshall B. Purdy to Operation Ben Sprecher and Louise Forlenza, the respective president and chairman of Global Broadway Productions, the producer behind the musical Little House on the Prairie, announced the appointment of Marshall B. Purdy as executive producer of Global Broadway Productions.

The company is developing and planning to launch three new musicals:

  • Little House on the Prairie starring Melissa Gilbert, which begins a month-long engagement Sept. 10 at the Paper Mill Playhouse in Millburn, NJ, followed by a multi-city North American tour. Purdy will also serve as general manager for Little House the Prairie.
  • Rebecca, the English adaptation of Daphne Du Maurier's hit musical, which has been playing in Vienna for three years. The aim is Broadway in 2010. The production will be directed by Francesca Zambello, with book and lyrics by Michael Kunze, music by Sylvester Levay and adapted by Academy Award and Tony Award winner Christopher Hampton.
  • Havana, aiming for a Broadway bow in fall 2010. The show will be directed by Sergio Trujillo, with book by Pulitzer Prize-winning author Nilo Cruz, lyrics by Jack Murphy and music by Frank Wildhorn.

    Purdy recently completed a 13-year tenure as associate producer with Disney Theatrical Productions. His assignments at Disney Theatrical included a concert presentation of Alan Menken and Tim Rice's King David, which opened Disney's renovated New Amsterdam Theatre in May 1997; Elton John and Tim Rice's Aida with a productions on Broadway, a U.S. national tour, The Netherlands, Germany and Japan; a national tour of On the Record in 1994; Phil Collins' Tarzan on Broadway, in the Netherlands and in Germany; and the national tour of High School Musical. Prior to joining Disney, Purdy general managed the Broadway engagement of August Wilson's Seven Guitars, Below the Belt starring Judd Hirsch and Robert Sean Leonard, the award-winning play Camping with Henry and Tom written by Mark St. Germain and John Leguizamo's Mambo Mouth, among others. Purdy also co-produced and general managed John Leguizamo's Spic-O-Rama at the Westside Theatre. He has worked as a company manager on such hits as Alfred Uhry's Driving Miss Daisy, the original production of the Tony Award-winning musical Nine and the Drama Desk and Obie Award winning Cloud 9 by Caryl Churchill.
