News Living Room in Africa Opens at Edge Theatre Off-Broadway March 22 Off-Broadway's Edge Theatre Company will open Bathsheba Doran's play Living Room in Africa at Theatre Row, on March 20. It began previews March 13 and will run to April 15. Carolyn Cantor directs.

The cast includes Marsha Stephanie Blake (Aunt Dan and Lemon), Guy Boyd (People Be Heard, Stone Cold Dead Serious), Rob Campbell (Small Tragedy), Michael Chernus (Mr. Marmalade, A Number), Ana Reeder (Sight Unseen) and Maduka Steady (Amy's View). The plot concerns Edward and Marie, who move from the UK to a remote African village to open an art museum. Soon after arriving, however, they realize they are in the middle of an area beset with poverty and AIDS, and are faced with some troubling questions about personal and political responsibilities.

Living Room in Africa was a finalist for the Susan Smith Blackburn Award and had workshops at the 2004 Eugene O'Neill Theatre Conference and Gloucester Stage Company (Massachusetts) in 2005.

Cantor directed Edge Theatre Company's last production, Craig Wright's Orange Flower Water. Other Edge productions, which come around at the rate of about one a year, include Blackbird and Stone Cold Dead Serious.
