News London Almeida Uncle Vanya Adds Jessica Brown Findlay and Tobias Menzies Further casting has been announced for Robert Icke's new production of Chekhov's Uncle Vanya in a version that he has also created that will begin performances Feb. 5 prior to an official opening Feb. 12 at London's Almeida Theatre.

Joining the previously announced Paul Rhys in the title role are Jessica Brown Findlay (Sonya), Vanessa Kirby (Elena), Tobias Menzies (Astrov), Hilton McRae (Serebryakov), Richard Lumsden (Telegin) and Ann Queensberry (Nanny).

Findlay, who is best known for playing Lady Sybil in TV's "Downton Abbey," last appeared on stage in Icke's production of Oresteia at the Almeida that subsequently transferred to the Trafalgar Studios. Her 2011 film debut in Albatross saw her nominated in the Best Newcomer categories at both the 2012 British Independent Film Awards and the Evening Standard Film Awards.



Kirby was last seen on the London stage in A Streetcar Named Desire at the Young Vic opposite Gillian Anderson that she is set to reprise when the production transfers to New York's St Ann's Warehouse in April. Other stage roles include Three Sisters at the Young Vic, Edward II and Women Beware Women at the National Theatre and The Acid Test at the Royal Court.

Menzies, who has just been nominated for a Golden Globe Award for Best Supporting Actor for "Outlander", reunites with Icke at the Almeida, following the sell out production of The Fever. He has also previously appeared at the Almeida in Cloud Nine and Platonov. He has also worked regularly at the Donmar Warehouse, National Theatre, Royal Court, and in the best End in The Children's Hour (Pinter Theatre, opposite Keira Knightley) and Three Sisters (Playhouse Theatre, opposite Kristin Scott Thomas).

McRae was most recently seen on the London stage in The Cocktail Party at The Print Room. Amongst his prolific theatre credits are Caroline, or Change at the National Theatre, End of the Rainbow, My One and Only, Mamma Mia!, Les Miserables and Miss Saigon (all West End), and Les Liaisons Dangereuses for the RSC (Stratford-upon-Avon, London and Broadway), The Kreutzer Sonata (London's Gate Theatre and off-Broadway) and Rabbit (London and off-Broadway's Brits Off Broadway Festival at 59E59 Theaters). Lumsden was last seen at the Almeida in David Cromer's production of Our Town and Queensberry was last seen on the London onstage in Three Sisters at the Young Vic.
