News London Globe Production of Henry VIII Will Hit Movie Theatres Sept. 15 "Shakespeare’s Globe London Cinema Series," an exclusive four-part, in-theatre series of classic Shakespeare titles shown in more than 260 movie theatres nationwide this summer and fall, will conclude Sept. 15 when Henry VIII hits the big screen.

The series, captured in 2010 from the Globe Theatre in London, is presented by NCM Fathom, Arts Alliance Media and the Globe and also includes Henry IV Parts 1 and 2, playing Aug. 1 and Aug. 18, respectively. The Merry Wives of Windsor was the first installment in the series. Each performance will begin at 6:30 PM local time and will include a special 20-minute historical perspective on the Globe, the reconstruction process, the work of the Globe today, and a behind-the-scenes look at each production with interviews from the actors and creative team involved.

In the final installment, Henry VIII, "the Tudor Court is locked in a power struggle between its nobles and the Machiavellian Cardinal Wolsey, the King's first minister and the most conspicuous symbol of Catholic power in the land," according to press notes. "Wolsey's ambition knows no bounds and when his chief ally, Queen Katherine, interferes in the King's romance with Ann Boleyn, he brings gigantic ruin upon himself, the Queen and centuries of English obedience to Rome." Dominic Rowan stars in the title role.
