The upcoming London production of Broadway's Kiss Me, Kate will star Marin Mazzie and Michael Berresse, of the 1999 New York cast, and Brent Barrett as a newcomer to the proceedings, a London spokesperson confirmed. The engagement begins previews Oct. 16 at the West End's Victoria Palace Theatre and opens there Oct. 30. A fourth star name is expected to be announced for London, for the role of Lois/Bianca. The rest of the company will be from the U.K. Michael Blakemore will recreate his Broadway direction.
Mazzie was Tony Award-nominated for playing the dual roles of Lilli Vanessi and Kate in the revival of the backstage Cole Porter romp. Berresse was also Tony nommed for playing wayward actor Bill Calhoun in the show. Barrett is a Broadway veteran of such shows was Chicago and the Reba McEntire Annie Get Your Gun.
