The hit London Cameron Mackintosh production of Lerner and Loewe's My Fair Lady will release an original cast album on First Night Records July 23. The staging stars Jonathan Pryce as Henry Higgins, Martine McCutcheon as Eliza Doolittle and Dennis Waterman as Alfred P Doolittle. My Fair Lady had a sold-out run at the Royal National Theatre. It reopened at the West End's Royal Drury Lane on July 21. Despite star McCutcheon's ill health that has caused her to miss numerous performances and scale back her current schedule to six shows per week, the National Theatre's My Fair Lady has become the fastest selling show in West End history. By the time My Fair Lady opened at the National on March 15, the entire run to June 30 at the NT's Lyttelton Theatre had already sold out. Tickets for the new run went on sale in late March and in less than a week, the box office swept up more than £4.7 million in advance bookings. Current advance sale is reportedly past $10 million, and there are whispers that the show may reach Broadway in the 2002-03 season.
The show is expected to eventually transfer to Broadway.
