International News London Run of Benj Pasek and Justin Paul’s Dogfight Begins March 6 Performances play the Bridewell through March 10.
Dogfight at Bridewell Theatre Sedos

Benj Pasek and Justin Paul's early musical Dogfight, which was seen Off-Broadway at Second Stage starring Lindsay Mendez and Derek Klena, plays March 6–10 at London's Bridewell Theatre.

Presented by Sedos and co-directed by Zoë Dobell and Peter Shimmin, the cast features Joe McWilliam as Eddie Birdlace, Lauren Clarke as Rose Fenny, Luke James Leahy as Boland, Nick Dore as Bernstein, Kate Gledhill as Marcie, and Dan Saunders as the Lounge Singer with Laura Ellis, Sarah Johnson, Charlotte Levy, Louisa Roberts, Penny Rodie, Chris Foxwell, Adrian Hau, Matt Morden, and Josh Yeardley.

The musical, which has a book by Peter Duchan and music and lyrics by Tony and Oscar winners Pasek and Paul (Dear Evan Hansen), is based on the 1991 movie of the same name starring River Phoenix and Lili Taylor.

Dogfight is set in San Francisco on November 21, 1963, on the eve of the Kennedy assassination. The rules of the dogfight, according to press notes, “are simple and cruel: each marine pays in $50, and the marine with the ugliest date wins. But, when one of these Marines, Eddie Birdlace, meets Rose, an awkward and idealistic waitress whom he invites to join him that night, she rewrites the rules of the game and teaches him the power of love and kindness.”
