According to press materials, this reimagined production of the musical about World War I is packed full of familiar songs from the era, juxtaposing with shocking statistics from conflict and the harsh realities of war. Oh What A Lovely War is a powerful comment against war in general and its message remains relevant to modern audiences.
The original production was created by Theatre Workshop, Charles Chilton, Gerry Raffles and members of the original cast. The title was suggested by Ted Allen, with Raymond Flecher as military adviser.
This production will be designed by Lez Brotherston, with lighting by Paul Pyant, sound by Mike Walker, projection design by Ian Galloway, choreography by Lynne Page and musical direction by Mike Dixon.
