The show, which has not been professionally staged in London since its original production at the Cambridge Theatre in 1950, was the source for many songs which became part of Coward's own cabaret repertoire, including "Sail Away," "Josephine," "I Like America," "Three Juvenile Delinquents" and "Chase Me, Charlie." According to press materials, the story involves strapping sailors, gangland thugs, a stolen necklace, star-crossed lovers and sharp-tongued chorus girls, all taking place in a Soho nightclub in 1949. The Union Theatre is being transformed into a 1940s nightclub for this production, which will be directed by Jack Thorpe Baker and choreographed by Mark Smith, with musical arrangements by Steven Edis.

The cast includes Lucy May Barker (Johanna in the last West End production of Sweeney Todd and original London cast of Spring Awakening), Emma Harris, Kate Milner-Evans, Gary Wood (Paul in last year's revival of A Chorus Line at the London Palladium) and Michael Hobbs.
