News London's We Will Rock You Breaks Dominion's Box-Office Record

The Queen's Jubilee has turned out to be golden for pop group Queen as well as Her Majesty: Brian May's appearance at the Buckingham Palace pop concert gave a useful burst of free publicity to the Queen musical We Will Rock You.

The show is now regularly breaking box-office records at the Dominion Theatre, with a recent seven-day gross of nearly £800,000 — the largest ever recorded at the Dominion.

We Will Rock You is written by Ben Elton, who hosted the party at the Palace, and the musical's success will be a welcome boost for him after the relative disappointment of Beautiful Game, the football musical that he wrote with Andrew Lloyd Webber, and which deserved a far longer run at the Cambridge Theatre than was the case.

It is believed that talks are underway to take We Will Rock You to the States next year.
