Long Beach Playhouse is mounting a mainstage production of George Furth's comedy The Supporting Cast, Jan. 5-Feb. 10, 2001. Director Phyllis B. Gitlin's cast includes Michael Fernandez-Olton, Donna M. Fria-Lappin, Ann Hodgkinson, Yvonne Robertson and Jan Tiehen.Ellen, the wife of a successful author, has not only written a book about friends who are spouses of celebrities but "tells all" about them. Needless to say, this does not sit well with the group and causes much resentment and bitterness which Ellen handles with difficulty. Furth has some surprises up his sleeve, however, leading to unexpected and often bizarre developments.
