News Longtime Phantom Star to Lead Les Miz at Orlando Shakespeare Theater Davis Gaines, best known for his lengthy run in the title role of Andrew Lloyd Webber's The Phantom of the Opera, will play Javert in the Orlando Shakespeare Theater production of Les Misérables.

Running Sept. 10-Oct. 12, the production will also feature Michael Hunsaker (Ragtime, Into the Woods) as Jean Valjean. Additional casting will be announced.

Les Misérables is written by Alain Boublil and Claude-Michel Schönberg and is based on the novel by Victor Hugo. It has music by Schönberg, lyrics by Herbert Kretzmer and original French text by Boublil and Jean-Marc Natel and additional material by James Fenton. The original London 1985 production of Les Miz was adapted and directed by Trevor Nunn and John Caird.

The musical is currently being revived on Broadway starring Tony Award nominees Ramin Karimloo (Valjean) and Will Swenson (Javert).
