John Bishop's 1987 Broadway hit The Musical Comedy Murders of 1940 will be revived by Lonny Chapman's Group Repertory Theatre in Los Angeles on Feb. 16 for a six-week run. The comic murder mystery will be directed by Malcolm Atterbury.1940 deals with the creative team responsible for a recent Broadway flop during which three chorus girls were murdered by the mysterious Stage Door Slasher. When the team gathers at the estate of a wealthy angel (Broadway investor) in upstate New York, it encounters some spooky things: sliding panels, secret passages and a German maid who appears to be four different people. Naturally, the Slasher makes his appearance here too, as does a bumbling police inspector in snowshoes.

Lonny Chapman's GRT is located at 10900 Burbank Blvd. For tickets and information call (818) 769-PLAY.
