Singer-actor Lorna Luft will share her solo show An Evening with Lorna Luft July 24 as part of the Musical Mondays concert series at Bay Street Theater in Sag Harbor, New York. Luft will sing favorites from throughout her career and share personal memories.
Luft told Playbill that she plans to sing “songs that I have had a relationship with—either the lyricist, composer, or [other] people I have known in my life and career—so it's very personal and special to me.”
She said she has a special connection with the Hamptons because “I have been coming out to the Hamptons for over 20 years. My best friends have a home in Westhampton. I have been lucky enough to have [them] and plan to have more great memories of the Hamptons. I also have been to the Bay Street [Theatre] and have seen some great artists there. I am so grateful to be performing there.”
Luft made her professional singing debut on TV’s The Judy Garland Show, and went on to featured roles on film and television, including Grease 2, Where the Boys Are ’84, and Murder, She Wrote. Luft technically made her Broadway debut in 1967 when she joined her mother onstage in her Palace Theatre concert, but she took the stage on her own in 1971 as a replacement as the female lead in the musical Promises, Promises. Other stage appearances include the 1981 national tour of They're Playing Our Song, the 1992 tour of Guys and Dolls, and both U.S. and U.K. tours of Irving Berlin's White Christmas. Her 1998 family memoir Me and My Shadows was adapted as an Emmy-winning TV miniseries.
Tickets for the 8 PM July 24 concert cost $45–$85 and can be ordered by clicking here.
