News Lou Diamond Phillips to Star in York Theatre Company Reading of Dillinger: Public Enemy Number One The York Theater Company will continue its Developmental Reading Series May 7 with a free reading of the new musical Dillinger: Public Enemy Number One.

Directed by Michael Unger, the 3 PM reading will boast the talents of stage and screen star Lou Diamond Phillips in the title role as well as Natalie Bradshaw, E. Clayton Cornelious, Jason Griffith, Jimmy Ludwig, Darren Matthias, Brooke Sunny Moriber, Eric Morris, Jennifer Prescott and Megan Sikora.

Dillinger: Public Enemy Number One features a book by Joel Gross and music and lyrics by Paul Aleman.

In this new musical, press notes state, "Jimmy Morgan, a young reporter in Depression-era Chicago, goes undercover with John Dillinger, the iconic gangster, and succumbs to his corrupting influence. Worse, Jimmy falls in love with Dillinger's girl, Polly, never realizing that it is Dillinger himself who is pulling the strings of their love triangle; all part of the gangster’s plan to use Jimmy's life as his ticket to freedom."

The reading will be presented at the York's home at The Theatre at Saint Peter's on 54th Street, east of Lexington Avenue.
