News Louis Pardo and Courtney Corey Will Star in Diversionary Theatre's Pippin in San Diego The Diversionary Theatre will present the Tony Award-nominated musical Pippin, which features a score by Grammy winner Stephen Schwartz, beginning Sept. 6, prior to an official opening Sept. 15, in San Diego.

Directed by James Vasquez, the limited engagement will continue through Oct. 14.

The musical stars Louis Pardo (Jesus Christ Superstar national tour) in the title role with Courtney Corey (Rent national tour) as the Leading Player, Megan Carmitchel (San Diego Rep's Tommy) as Catherine, Andy Collins (Diversionary's The Rocky Horror Show) as King Charles, Tony Houck (Diversionary's Next Fall) as Lewis, Luke Jacobs (All Shook Up national tour) as Fastrada, Wendy Maples (Diversionary's Fair Use) as Berthe and Hunter Schwarz (Diversionary Cabaret's Altar Boyz) as Theo.

Here's how Diversionary describes the musical, which features a book by Roger O. Hirson: "On his journey Pippin samples the glories of the battlefield, the wisdom of a grandmother, the intrigues of political power, the pleasures of the flesh and simple farm life – trying to find where he fits in. Join us for a magical, musical fairy tale of extraordinary discovery."

Other members of the creative team include musical director Charlie Reuter, scenic designer Sean Fanning, costume designer Shirley Pierson, lighting designer Elizabeth Swaffield, sound and video designer Kevin Anthenill and associate choreographer Annette Ye.
