After a nasty bout with the flu, Susan Lucci will finally get her gun and her man Dec. 27, as she steps into the title role in Broadway's Annie Get Your Gun. Lucci will fill in for Bernadette Peters for three weeks while the latter takes a vacation.

Lucci's illness caused her to miss a week of rehearsals of Annie Get You Gun; as a result, she was not able to open in the show on Dec. 23 as scheduled. The end date of Lucci's engagement is still Jan. 16, 2000. Bernadette Peters returns to the role Jan. 18.

ABC airs "All My Children," the soap opera Lucci calls home. Lucci won a Daytime Emmy Award for Best Actress last May for her portrayal of femme fatale, Erica Kane, on the soap. Annie will mark her Broadway debut.

Peters won a Tony Award for her performance in Annie Get Your Gun. The show itself also claimed a prize as best musical revival.

Lucci has never previously appeared on Broadway. As Annie Oakley, she will be called upon to sing such songs as "Lost in His Arms" and "I Got the Sun in the Morning."
