The CD of the show, which features such Garland classics as "You Made Me Love You" and "The Trolley Song," will be released in the fall. On her official website, singer-actress Luft writes, "I'm so happy to announce that Colin [Freeman] and I just returned from London where we finally recorded the album of Songs My Mother Taught Me! It was an exhausting and thrilling week of sessions with a twenty piece orchestra including almost all the talented musicians who played the show during its run at the Savoy last summer. We're just about to begin mastering the CD here in Los Angeles and I can't wait to share it with you when it's released this fall." In addition to her work on concert stages throughout the world, Lorna Luft has also appeared in several stage musicals, including the Broadway production of Promises, Promises and the Off-Broadway mountings of Snoopy and Extremities. She starred as Rose in a regional production of Gypsy, and her national tour credits include They're Playing Our Song, Jerry Herman's Broadway Years and the aforementioned Songs My Mother Taught Me.
Luft will next present Songs My Mother Taught Me June 26 with the Ocean City Pops in Ocean City, NJ. For tickets, which go on sale June 4, call (609) 525-9248.
