A spokesperson for the award-winning actress told Playbill.com that LuPone is currently in negotiations to star in David Mamet's A Waitress in Yellowstone, which will be presented by the Center Theatre Group this spring at the Kirk Douglas Theatre in Culver City, CA. Performance dates are May 11-June 8, 2008.

Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Mamet's first foray into musical theatre is described as such: "Winnie and her son Doug are planning a long-anticipated trip to Yellowstone National Park. But when an unlikely suspect does her an injustice, their trip is diverted and Winnie ends up on a fantastical journey to Yellowstone where she meets a woodsman who grants wishes."

LuPone has a long history performing in Mamet's work. On Broadway she was seen in Mamet's The Water Engine/Mr. Happiness (1978) and The Old Neighborhood (1997). She also appeared on screen in Mamet's "State and Main" (2000).

A Tony Award winner for her work in Evita, Patti LuPone also earned an Olivier Award for her performances in the West End productions of Les Misérables and The Cradle Will Rock. Her other theatrical credits include Sunset Boulevard, Anything Goes, Oliver!, Working, The Old Neighborhood, Master Class and Pal Joey. LuPone also headlined two solo Broadway concerts, Patti LuPone On Broadway and Matters of the Heart, and received glowing notices for her performance as Mrs. Lovett in the Lincoln Center concert version of Stephen Sondheim's Sweeney Todd and a Tony nomination for her performance in the recent revival of that Sondheim work. She was seen in the Kennedy Center's staging of Marc Blitzstein's Regina and recently joined Audra McDonald for Los Angeles Opera's production of Kurt Weill and Bertolt Brecht's Rise and Fall of the City of Mahagonny. LuPone was most recently on the New York stage in City Center's production of Gypsy.
