LuPone premiered the evening at Carnegie Hall in 1999 and continues to tour the concert across the U.S. Coulda, Woulda, Shoulda highlights her Broadway career and offers fans a chance to hear LuPone perform material she "could have played, should have played, did play and will play." Songs previously performed in the evening include "Don't Rain on My Parade" from Funny Girl, "As Long as He Needs Me" from Oliver!, "Meadowlark" from The Baker's Wife, "Never Never Land" from Peter Pan, "Old Man River" from Show Boat, "Easy to Be Hard" from Hair, "A Wonderful Guy" from South Pacific, "An English Teacher" from Bye Bye Birdie, "I Was Here" from The Glorious Ones and "Don't Cry for Me Argentina" from Evita.

Most recently seen in the Arthur Laurents-helmed revival of Gypsy, LuPone has starred in the world premieres of Sunset Boulevard and Les Miserables, as well as productions of Anything Goes, Oliver!, Working, The Old Neighborhood, Master Class, The Cradle Will Rock, Sweeney Todd and Pal Joey. She currently tours with An Evening with Patti LuPone and Mandy Patinkin, and her other solo evenings Matters of the Heart and The Gypsy in My Soul.
