This is a role that she first played in 1997 and reprised earlier this year, for a week, so when she rejoins the company on Sept. 1, for a six-month contract, she will certainly feel at home.
Willy Russell's Blood Brothers is one of the longest-running musicals in the West End, where it was first seen (at the Lyric) in 1985. A second production, at the Albery in 1988, was more successful, and it transferred, in the early 1990s, to the Phoenix, where it has remained ever since. The show has also been seen on tour internationally, and on Broadway, where it ran for three years.
