Lypsinka! As I Lay Lip Synching Sets Off-Broadway Closing Date for Dec. 21

News   Lypsinka! As I Lay Lip Synching Sets Off-Broadway Closing Date for Dec. 21
Following an announcement that the show would end its Off-Broadway run Jan. 4, 2004, then another stating it would return to its open-ended run, Lypsinka! As I Lay Lip Synching, is set to close Dec. 21 at the Minetta Lane Theatre.

The new staging — which followed an extended, sold-out New York premiere run at new nightclub Show — began previews Oct. 24 and opened Nov. 5. The production will have played a total of 40 performances and 8 previews, according to a spokesperson.

In As I Lay Lip-Synching, the concert artist performs — as in the past — to the soundtrack of classic divas. Kevin Malony directs. Phil Ciasullo Conard presents the TWEED Theatreworks production.

Lypsinka has made star turns in I Could Go On Lip-Synching (Off Broadway) followed by The Fabulous Lypsinka Show, Lypsinka! Now It Can Be Lip-Synched, Lypsinka! A Day in the Life, Lypsinka Must Be Destroyed! and most recently The Boxed Set. The creation of John Epperson, Lypsinka has also appeared in the films "Wigstock: The Movie," "Vampire's Kiss," "Witch Hunt" and the upcoming HBO film of "Angels in America."

The design team includes Mark T. Simpson (set and lighting) and Bryant Hoven (costume).
