Classic Arts News Lyric Opera of Chicago Chorister Is Murdered Tenor Richard Markley, a member of the Lyric Opera of Chicago chorus since 1991, was found stabbed to death in his apartment on February 27, the Chicago Tribune reports. He was 45.
Markley's body was discovered by employees of the Lyric Opera who came to his apartment after he didn't show up for work, according to the paper. Police are investigating.

"It is with shock, outrage and deep, deep sadness that I and members of the Lyric Opera company learned of the fatal stabbing of tenor Richard Markley," said William Mason, the Lyric's general manager, said in a statement. "He was an esteemed and valued member of the company who sang many roles with us as well as being a member of our chorus. He will be deeply missed."
