Molly Smith directs film actor M. Emmet Walsh in Arthur Miller's 1947 morality drama, All My Sons, beginning previews May 19 at Arena Stage in Washington, DC.
Walsh is a character actor seen in such pictures as "Blood Simple" "A Time to Kill," "My Best Friend's Wedding," "Ordinary People," and more. On Broadway, he appeared in That Championship Season and Does the Tiger Wear a Necktie?
The now-classic post-World War II play was Miller's first Broadway hit, a tale of a family broken by the revelation that the father permitted faulty airplane parts to be sold and used in the war effort. Walsh plays patriarch Joe Keller.
The company, on the Fichandler stage, includes Beth Fowler as Kate, David Fendig as Chris, Rhea Seehorn as Ann, Paul Morella as George, Craig Wallace, Aakhu TuahNera Freeman, Katie Barrett, Christopher Walker and Nathan Taylor.
Official opening is May 26. Performances continue to June 25. Designers are Pavel Dobrusky (set and lighting), Anne Kennedy (costumes), Timothy M. Johnson (sound).
Other Miller plays include The Ride Down Mt. Morgan (now on Broadway), The Price, Mr. Peters' Connections and The Crucible.
