He is also providing his home for a fundraiser for Reprise! and the ASCAP Foundation on Sunday, Nov. 5. The special event, "An Afternoon at Jerry Herman's," will feature celebrity entertainment and the opportunity to meet one of the giants of the American musical theatre. At the event, Herman will be presented with an award by The ASCAP Foundation to commemorate the creation of a new musical theatre educational program in his name. The plan is to bring the program to schools around the country.

Mack & Mabel had its world premiere in 1974 at the Civic Light Opera in L.A., starring Robert Preston and Bernadette Peters. The show lasted only two months when it transferred to Broadway, but has remained an underground favorite ever since, thanks to the original cast recording. The show was revived in London in 1995 and was a hit, with Howard McGillin and Carole O'Connor in the leads. Pascal, sister of the show's original librettist, Michael Stewart, revised the book at that time and she has polished it again for the Reprise! production.

Freud Playhouse is located in Macgowan Hall at UCLA. For tickets and information call (310) 825-2101 or Ticketmaster.
