Veteran actress, director and choreographer Kay Cole, an original cast member of A Chorus Line, will stage the 80-minute comedy that will officially open June 6. Desperate Writers premiered in California in 2008. Both Schreiber and Grenrock appeared in the 2009 Los Angeles bow of the play.
Corman (Next Fall) and Stanek (Lestat) will be joined by Angel Desai, Christopher Durham, Tom Mardirosian, Kelsey Nash, Susan Louise O’Connor, Vayu O’Donnell, Pauletta Washington and co-creator Schreiber.
According to producers, "A couple of desperate writers, with the baby clock ticking and their home about to be sold out from under them, are driven to desperate measures to get their script read, bought and made in this hilarious, fast-paced, screwball comedy, that pokes fun at the crazy film biz."
Desperate Writers will have scenic design by Lauren Helpern, costume design by Stephen Donovan and lighting design by Jeremy Pivnick. Carnegie Hill Productions, James Spry, Michael Alden and Pam Laudenslager present the run.
