One Man, Two Guvnors author Richard Bean is penning the book to Made in Dagenham, which will have a score by "James Bond" composer David Arnold and lyricist Richard Thomas (Jerry Springer: The Opera).
Rupert Goold (Macbeth, Enron, Earthquakes in London) is helming the project, which received a recent presentation. Only a small number of scenes and songs are in place. The creative team is hoping to workshop the first act in February 2012.
The goal is for a 2013 West End debut. Rebecca Quigley of Stage Entertainment produces along with Stephen Woolley and Elizabeth Karlsen. Woolley and Karlsen also produced the film.
"Made in Dagenham" centers on the 1968 walkout at the UK's Dagenham factory, which sought equal pay for women. The strike led to the Equal Pay Act of 1970.
The film featured Sally Hawkins, Miranda Richardson, Rosamund Pike, Jaime Winstone and more.
