According to the Press - including trade newspaper The Stage - it looks as though Madonna may be setting a record rather than recording one. Tickets for her West End debut in Up For Grabs are reportedly going for at least £150 a seat.
The show is technically sold out already, and demand for the limited run at Wyndham's Theatre is already soaring, a month before the play opens. Scalpers are more usually seen outside musicals — especially The Lion King and Mamma Mia! — so it will be a novelty to see them outside a straight play.
Madonna still has huge pulling power, and if her West End run gets reviews to match the sales, then it won't be surprising if producer Sonia Friedman tries to take Up For Grabs to New York.
