News Maltby and Whitty to Critique Stagedoor's DramaFest Tony Award winners Richard Maltby, Jr. and Jeff Whitty will head to summer camp as part of Stagedoor Manor's playwriting DramaFest.

Stagedoor Manor, the summer theatre camp in the Catskills that has a roster of A-list showbiz alumni, provides training in performance as well as technical theatre and television. In 2006 Stagedoor presented the world premiere of the stage adaptation of High School Musical. The new one-day event, which stages five original plays written and performed by Stagedoor Manor campers, offers participants the opportunity to present their work to a panel of theatre professionals. DramaFest will inaugurate Stagedoor Manor's new full theatre, built on the site of the camp's former indoor swimming pool.

The panelists for DramaFest include Maltby, Jr. (Ain't Misbehavin', Closer Than Ever) and Whitty (Avenue Q, Tales of the City) as well as Brad Lohrenz, director of licensing for Samuel French; and Sheri Goldhirsch, artistic director for Young Playwrights Inc. (founded by Stephen Sondheim).
