News Mamet Directs FX Drama "The Shield" Playwright David Mamet directed the May 18 episode of the TV drama "The Shield."

Michael Chiklis stars in the TV series, which airs on the FX network at 10 PM ET; check local listings. The current episode, entitled "Strays," features a guest turn by Mamet's wife, Rebecca Pidgeon. According to the show's official website, the episode is described thusly: "During a routine bust on street bangers, Vic and his team discover a money laundering ring that reaches far and wide in the crime community. Meanwhile, Dutch is face to face with the cuddler rapist, and when he attempts to get inside his criminal mind, he finds himself surrendering to the thrill of the kill." David Mamet is the author of Glengarry Glen Ross, American Buffalo, The Water Engine/Mr. Happiness, Speed-the-Plow and The Old Neighborhood. He is the recipient of a Pulitzer Prize for Drama for Glengarry Glen Ross. He was also Tony-nominated for both Glengarry Glen Ross and Speed-the Plow.
