News Mamma Mia! Performs at National Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony The touring company of Mamma Mia! — now playing Washington, D.C.'s National Theatre — will take part in the 80th lighting ceremony of the National Christmas tree.

On Dec. 4 at 5 PM, the cast of the hit ABBA musical will perform a medley of holiday songs on the Ellipse, located near the White House in D.C. The ceremony will also include performances by Shirley Jones, country singing group Lonestar, soprano Twyla Robinson, Voena (Voices of Ev'n Angels), an international children's choir and the U.S. Coast Guard Band. Following the performances, the Mamma Mia! cast will assist President and Mrs. Bush as they turn on the more than 75,000 lights that illuminate the 57 Christmas trees. CSPAN will broadcast the event live, beginning at 5 PM ET.

Mamma Mia! is currently playing the National Theatre, 1321 Pennsylvania NW. The performance schedule at the National is Tuesday through Fridays at 8 PM, Saturdays at 2 and 8 PM and Sundays at 2 and 7:30 PM. Call (800) 447-7400 for tickets.
