News   Mamma Mia!'s Benny and Björn to Bring Kristina to U.S.; Chess Revival, Too As Mamma Mia! celebrates its 1,000th performance on Broadway, the composers behind the international hit are at work on a new musical.

Newsday reports that ABBA songwriters Benny Andersson and Björn Ulvaeus have written a new musical based on Wilhelm Moberg's novel "The Emigrents" entitled Kristina. The duo hope to bring the musical to the United States soon. "I would love to see it in this country," Ulvaeus told the New York daily, "because it's about America, about these people from Sweden going to Minnesota in the 1850's. It's an epic."

Ulvaeus also said that there are plans for a revival of the ABBA writers' first Broadway outing, Chess, which was recently presented as a one night-only concert event to benefit the Actors' Fund of America.

Meanwhile, Mamma Mia! continues to pack the Winter Garden Theatre, where it opened in Oct. 2001. For more information about that musical visit http://www.mamma-mia.com.
