Washington will offer Mahogany: Reflections on Vanity at 9:30 PM at the intimate cabaret. A benefit for the Broadway Inspirational Voices, Mahogany is written and performed by Washington. A release explains, "The Ebony Enchantress celebrates her birthday by reflecting on life, love and career through songs by the great Black divas of our time." Michael Benjamin Washington is currently making his Broadway debut at the Winter Garden in the hit musical Mamma Mia!. Off-Broadway he was seen in Saturday Night and Spring Awakening, and his regional credits include Full Bloom, Six Degrees of Separation and Le Misanthrope. A graduate of New York University, Washington performed Othello for President Clinton at the Kennedy Center while a Presidential Scholar in the Arts.
